HINES TRUCKING COMPANY HISTORY
Hines Trucking was founded by J.D. Hines in 1936, with one truck hauling in the local area of Prescott, Arkansas. From 1936 until 1969, J.D. Hines hauled logs, lumber, and gravel. In 1969, J.D. Hines and his son, Billy R. Hines, became partners. They continued to haul gravel and added additional equipment. In 1976, the partnership was incorporated into J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc. J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc., was awarded its first chip hauling contract in 1979. In 1983, J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc., was granted a General Commodities Authority for 48 states by the Interstate Commerce Commission. Billy R. Hines acquired J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc., in 1984 and became President and Chief Executive Officer. J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc., began a long haul division in 1984, operating trucks throughout 48 states. Refrigerated trailers were added to the long haul division in 1986, and dry vans in 1989. In November 1990, Billy R. Hines sold the long haul division of J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc. The short haul division and full time shop of J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc., continues to operate.
